Analysis of needs and challenges in the court system

On October 4, 2017, within the framework of the project of the High School of Justice – Strengthening Judicial Training through Twinning, French judge Erik Minnegher; Resident Twinning Adviser of the project, Director of the Latvian Judicial School Solvita Kalnina–Caune and representative of the High School of Justice – Aniko Parjiani held the meeting with the secretary of the High Council of Justice Giorgi Miqautadze and members of the High Council of Justice: Revaz Nadaraia, Irakli Shengelia and Shota Kadagidze.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the needs and challenges in the court system as well as collecting ideas and recommendations with regard to the upgrading the Initial Training Program of the High School of justice for Judicial Candidates.

Before the meeting at the High Council of Justice, the meetings had also been conducted with judges at Tbilisi Court of Appels and Tbilisi City Court as well as members of the Council of Teachers of the High School of Justice. Under the activity, meetings with international donor organizations and national non-government organizations will also be conducted are. Based on the information collected during the meetings, foreign experts of the project will elaborate relevant report and recommendations for the High School of Justice.

The project is financed by the European Union and its duration is 18 months.
