Effective Review of Hate Crimes

On 19-20 June, within the framework of collaboration supported projects by the High School of Justice and Council of Europe (CoE) “Strengthening capacities of High School of Justice” and “Use of the European Convention on Human Rights in Georgia and bring Court Practice disaffiliate to European Standards” was held training for judges on “Effective Review of Hate Crimes” in Kakheti, hotel “Chateau Mere”.

The seminar was led by the judges-trainers, who were involved in the development of training curriculum about abovementioned topic. In particular, judges of Tbilisi Appeal Court: Tamar Alania, Geronti Kakhetelidze, Gela Badriashvili and a judge of Tbilisi City Court – Nikoloz Margvelashvili. The event was also attended the Council of Europe Expert – John Wadham, who together with Georgian trainers participated in the elaborating process of curriculum.

15 judges are taking part in the training from Tbilisi Court of Appeals, Tbilisi and Rustavi City Courts, Zestaponi, Akhaltsikhe, Gurjaani, Telavi District Courts. 

The training was envisaged by the 2017 In-Service Training Program of Judges and Court Staff.
