Ensuring Effective Access to Justice for Persons with Disabilities (geo)
On September 24 and 25, training on Ensuring Effective Access to Justice for Persons with Disabilities is being conducted for judges at the High School of Justice.
The training is being conducted by Teimuraz Todria - Chief Consultant of Supreme Court of Georgia and Giorgi Akhmeteli – Executive Director of the movement “Accessible Environment for Everyone”.
Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities entered into force from April, 2014, according to which state parties take responsibilities to promote appropriate training for those working in the field of administration of justice in order to help to ensure effective access to justice for persons with disabilities.
Considering the above mentioned, the High School of Justice is starting providing trainings for judges on the topic derived from the responsibilities taken by the State.
Within the framework of the training, judges will be given thorough information about domestic and international legal instruments, which represent guaranties for the protection of rights of persons with disabilities.
During the training, participant will be given opportunities, to familiarize with practical cases and gaps and barriers persons with disabilities meet during realization of their rights.
18 judges participate in the training from Tbilisi Court of Appeals, Tbilisi and Rustavi City Courts and Akhaltsikhe, Sighnaghi and Bolnisi Regional Courts.
It must be highlighted that the HSoJ plans to conduct training on the said issue this year as well as the next years.
